Chapter 3

"Where am I?" You shout, spinning in a circle. You were wearing a flowy black dress that just barely covered your ankles with a white ribbon at your hips that formed a bow on your back. It was incredibly dark and you could barely see a foot in front of your face. You reached out your hands and tried to feel around. When your hands touch something you; feel it more carefully between your fingers. "A leaf?" you asked, suddenly able to see a huge bush before you; as you looked around more, you could see that it was a very dark maze that you were in. "How..?" you practically cried and stumbled away from the bush boundary. "This way ___ (name)," said a voice and you wheeled around quickly for the source. You spotted the red-eyed man and you gasped. "Sebastian!" you called and frowned when he turned and started to go farther into the maze. For a terrible moment you stand there, not sure if it would be smart to follow. Finally, you figured following him would be better than standing here alone. "Wait up!" you yell and turn down the left path Sebastian had headed down. You saw the tail of his coat just before he vanished down a left path ahead. This game of chase was no fun to you but you tried your hardest to keep up. "Stop walking from me," you yell in frustration, your breath coming out in heavy puffs from having to run so much. He paused momentarily and turned so that he was facing you; he gave you a demonic smile and placed one finger against his lips. His red eyes seemed to glow in the darkness. You caught up to him and stopped, you bent over trying to catch your breath. "We are almost there ___," Sebastian told you after removing his gloved finger from his lips. Again he took another right down another path. You glanced in his direction and slowly righted yourself before walking to the right. This time you peered around at your surroundings, you guessed this was the very center of the maze because it was a large opening much like the rest of the maze but there was a fountain and a lantern. You found in strange that this was the only lantern in the whole maze and you reached out to touch it. "Curiosity killed the cat," said Sebastian and you quickly pulled your hand away from the lantern. He was a couple feet from you staring down into the marble fountain, he didn't move an inch. It was kind of creeping you out how still he was so you walked over, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Sebastian?" you asked cautiously and screamed when he turned his gaze to you. Half of his face was his usual pale self but the other half of his face was bone, his skull. "What are you?" you shrieked, stumbling away from him. Your foot stepped on your black dress, almost causing you to fall over, but Sebastian had grabbed your wrists with his gloved hands, easily catching you. "L-let go of me," you said, gagging due to the retched smell coming off of him, he smelt of death. He studied your face a moment before pulling you over to the fountain he was just looking into before you came over. Clear water no longer flowed from it, instead a red liquid with a metallic smell was oozing down the fountain, the liquid level rising, and it wouldn't be long before it over flowed. You felt the bile rising in your throat but you quickly swallowed it back down, slowly your ___ colored eyes looked away from the blood and towards the man that you had grown a new fear of. A smirk crossed his features and slowly he let a gloved finger trace your nose, cheeks, jaw line, and lips. When he pulled the finger away, he placed it against his lips and shoved you into the fountain. You tired to scream but no sound would escape your lips.

"Wake up, Wake up!" cried a distressed voice and you felt yourself being shaken. You woke with a start, quickly sitting up, a gasp escaping your lips. Quickly you examined the room you were in, realizing you were no longer drowning in blood. Slowly you rested a hand against your cheek to find it wet, the nightmare had left you drenched. "Are you okay?" asked the man that Mey-rin had called 'Finny'. You turned to look at the boy, he was dressed the same as yesterday but he looked tired. He sat in a comfortable looking chair that he had pulled over beside your bed to watch over you. "You were moving around a lot in your sleep and seemed pretty scared," he said with a troubled look on his face. That face didn't look good on him, you decided and sighed. "Thank you Finny," you said and pushed your hair out of your face. He nodded and smiled a bit, still not seeming to be happy. You pulled your knees up to your chest and rested your chin against your knees. "What's your name?" asked Finny and you smiled a little bit in his direction. "___, my name is ___. Thank you again. You helped me yesterday and today, you sure make a habit of helping me out. I'll make it up to you in some way," you told him firmly. His face heated up, causing it to go a light pink color. Apparently you had embarrassed him. You couldn't help but laugh, letting the effects of the nightmare vanish. He was adorable, he reminded you a lot of a little brother; you had always wanted a little brother. "Why were you out last night so late any way?" you asked him and raised your eye brows. He fidgeted in his seat and rubbed the back of his head. "I went out to get flowers for the young Master, Ciel Phantomhive. I saw you leave the pet shop and get attacked by that man so I helped out," he said and grinned a bit. 'There we go, that look suites him much better. Happy looks good on him' you thought and smile some more. "Well thank you again," you said and touch your ___ colored hair self consciously, you were sure you had a terrible case of bed head. "What was your dream about?" he asked, leaning forward on the chair a bit. The hat he had around his neck yesterday was on his head to day so when he leaned over it fell off and onto the bed. Carefully you pick it up and place it back onto his head before shaking your head. "I honestly don't remember," you said and looked up at a sound. Finny looked worried and looked around the room; there was another knock on the door.

"Come in," you call and glance at Finny who stopped fidgeting about. Ciel stepped into the room followed by Sebastian; you weren't surprised to see that once again he seemed to be in a sour mood. "So who are you?" asked the 'young master' as most people seemed to call him. This time you fidgeted instead of Finny. "___ ____ (first and last name). I live in an apartment by the pet shop I was volunteering at yesterday. I didn't mean to over use my stay…" you started but stopped mid sentence when he glared at you with one pure blue eye. You shook your head in confusion. "Did I say I was kicking you out?" asked the boy, it wasn't the usual snap he usually gave you, you were thankful about that. Slowly you shook your head and wait for him to continue. "Finnian has informed me that he had tossed your attacker along with your purse far away. I'm assuming you have very important things in there and we are taking full responsibility over all your belongings you have lost. This isn't for you; this is for 'my' dignity and the dignity of my family. One of 'my' servants lost your things so 'I' will make up for this," he explained and instead of glaring at you, he glared at the blonde who sat beside you. Again, Finny's face had gone a bright red and he laughed nervously under Ciel's gaze. "Oh! You don't have to do that!" you say and waved your hands about a bit, you didn't like to be a bother to anyone. Now the young boy peered between you and Finny before sighing. "Get dressed and we will talk about this over a game of chess and breakfast. Come Finny," he said finally with a tone that said he wouldn't take no for an answer. Finny hurried after his master, tripping a bit but managing to keep from falling over. He seemed just as clumsy as Mey-rin. You shake your head and cover your mouth with a hand to keep from laughing.

Sebastian remained in the room and walked over; gently he set a pile of clothes on the end of the bed. For some reason, the sight of him made you shudder. "Thank you," you said for what seemed like the millionth time this morning and you peered down at the clothes he had brought you. Your eyes widened in surprise and you looked up at him. "We told your boss at the pet shop that you are taking off today after explaining what had happened yesterday. I grabbed this from the back, he said it is yours," he said and he motioned the uniform that now lies on the bed. His red eyes lingered on the grateful look on your face a moment longer before he too turned and left the room.

You climbed out of the comfy bed and picked up the green shirt first, pulling it on over your head. Next you pulled on some black Capri pants and carefully tucked the shirt into the pants. Even though you weren't going to work today, you wore it properly out of habit. Lastly you pulled on the orange apron over your head and tied it in the back. Gently you pulled your hair out of the shirt and peered at your reflection in the mirror. The green shirt had a patch on it, a gray cat with black stripes only on the back that you had always loved. Also the green and orange of the uniform brought out the ___ color of your eyes. A smile spread across your face, everything felt almost normal… almost. If it weren't for the fact that you were in a Mansion, and your hands and elbows were wrapped in bandage wrap… things would be normal. Lastly you picked up a brush and brushed the stubborn knots out of your hair. Satisfied with yourself, you turned and walked over to the door. You took a deep breath and turned the door knob to have Sebastian standing there waiting.

"This way, Bo-chan is waiting for you. I've already prepared the finest tea and breakfast for you," Sebastian said with his wicked smile. Today, he hadn't let Baldroy 'anywhere' near the kitchen with you here, he wouldn't allow any mistakes. He twitched just at the thought of Baldroy and his flamethrower in the kitchen. Now he turned and led you down the hallway but not very far. Lightly he knocked on a nearby door before opening it for you and letting you step inside. You were amazed by the huge windows just opposite of you. Ciel sat at a small table near the window with a chess board set up. He had a great view! "This is gorgeous," you whisper to Ciel's Butler before walking over and sitting across from him. You rested your chin the palm of your hand and stared down at the board.  A strange sound came from the boy and you looked up at him, sitting up straight and properly. It took you a moment to realize he had cleared his throat so that you would see the disapproving look on his face. You looked down at your own slumped over posture and slowly straightened yourself up. "Your move," said Ciel and you frowned before studying the board more carefully; he had made a move already. Your reach your hand out and lightly run your fingers over each pawn till you reached the one you wanted to move, moving it forward one space. Already, you could tell this would be a long and boring game… you had never been a fan of chess and it had been years since you played so you were grateful for Sebastian's distraction. He had carried over a tray and lowered it to both you and Ciel's eye level. Gracefully he poured the tea and handed each of you a cup. When Ciel closed his eyes while taking a sip of tea, he put a finger to his lips and gave you his signature smile. At first you were confused but when you looked down at the chess board he had moved one of your pieces. A small grin spread across your face and you look down at the tea cup in your hands. 'Thank you' you mouth to Sebastian and looked over at Ciel as he studied the board. "So, will you let me replace your things? If you don't tell me what was in it I will just have to assume and buy what I think you would carry with you in your purse based off what little I know about you," he said, though it sounded more like a threat. You frowned and took a sip of tea. Gently you set the cup down and stared out the window. "I had a photo in there that you can't replace, it was the only one I had," you said softly and tugged on a strand of your ___ colored hair stubbornly. You carefully tip the chair back so that it is standing on just two of its legs and you had to keep it up. Reluctantly you told him what was in his purse while he contemplated his next move. The boy moved another one of his pawns before peering at you. "After we finish this game, Sebastian will take you out shopping to get your missing belongings. I might send Finny along also because I know he will insist on helping fix his mistake," explained the younger boy and he grabbed Sebastian's wrist when he tried to move one of your pieces. His blue eye glared at his butler and he looked at you. "How many of your pieces has he moved for you?" asked the boy in an annoyed tone, he didn't appreciate cheating. You held up one slender finger and looked down at the board since it was obvious now that you would have to fend for yourself in this game. You couldn't bring up the courage to admit that you didn't remember most of the rules so you just continued to move pawns until you knew you'd have to start using other pieces. Surprisingly though, the boy didn't yell at you when you didn't move a piece right. He corrected you and your silly mistakes but he didn't get impatient with you like he usually did and yell at you; maybe you were making some progress with the Phantomhive boy after all.

After a long, mind-racking game of chess, you had managed to win but that was only because Ciel had figured out just how bad you were at playing and allowed Sebastian to make suggestions and help you. A triumphant grin spread across your face and you jumped up from the chair, hugging Sebastian tightly around his waist. "We did it!" you cheered, too happy and giddy to realize just what you were doing. The butler blinked his red eyes and glanced from you then to his master then back. Finally his usual smile spread across his face and he nodded, resting one of his gloved hands against the top of your head. "That's right, 'you' did it," Sebastian said. Your face became a bright red color when you felt his hand on your head and you quickly unwrapped your arms from around him and jumped back. "I'm sorry, that was very impolite and impulsive of me…" you said and continued to ramble on a bit. To shush you, Sebastian chuckled and placed a finger against your lips with raised eye brows. Just when you thought your face couldn't go any shade darker, it did and you pushed his hand away gently before looking away. "Um… should I go find Finny and tell him we are heading out?" you asked, nervous under his gaze. He looked out the window thoughtfully and while he did so you took this time to really study him. His red hair was parted the exact same way as yesterday, with a couple of black spikes, his hair shaped his pale face well. The pale skin on his face mad his irregular colored eyes stand out even more, and his gaze made you feel like he was staring right into your soul. "___?" Sebastian asked, calling your name. You blinked and shook you head a bit to clear it. "What?" you asked, scared he might have caught you staring. He tilted his head at you a bit. "I said; Finny should be in the front yard. He's our gardener, you should be able to find him there," repeated the Butler. You couldn't help but smile at the mention of the blonde man and you nodded your head. "Right," you said and looked at Ciel, not sure if you should bow or what to the 'master'. You decided waving would be the best choice so you did so and ran over to the door. Quickly you opened it but then paused right outside the door. "You will meet us out front right Sebastian?" you asked and peered over your shoulder at the man you had a crush on. He nodded and your smile became a grin, lighting up your face. You nodded your head at him feeling giddy since you will get to spend the day with him and Finny. You hurry out front.

Ciel turned to his butler with a knowing look and he smirked a bit. "You've taken an interest in the girl or her soul?" asked the young master snidely. Sebastian glanced at Ciel with his red demonic eyes then looked away. Ciel didn't get an answer so his smirk vanished briefly; not sure what to think now.
